Thank you, Mr. Korn.

OT, and probably a stupid question, but is the Dave Korn on this
list the same Dave Korn that, ummm, wrote the Korn shell?

Cheers, Ralph

No.

It's his evil twin. ;-)

I know. That sounds korny. ;-)

OK, enough with the bad jokes. I'm done. :-)

But in all seriousness Dave Korn != Dave Korn. Same name.
Different person.

Nope. And I used to wonder the same thing, so it can't possibly be a
stupid question, right?

Right?

Hm.

Thanks a lot for the valuable information.

I have some more question on the same, just to clarrify things a bit more..

What do u mean by full unicode enabled??

Simple. Cygwin 1.5.x doesn't support Unicode. Code in CVS for the next
release series (1.7.x) will. If you want to get some early insight, you
can check out a snapshot . This, of course,
isn't released code so use at your own risk. If you do try it and have
problems, report them here.

Anticipating your next question, there is no release date yet for 1.7.x.

Will my code which contains 'wstring' compile?

You've answered this question for yourself already, no?

2008-05-18 Thread Reinhard Nissl

Hi,

running the following command sequence in bash yields little
numbers compared to a real unix system:

while true ; do date ; done | uniq -c

  16 Thu May 15 10:40:23 2008
  17 Thu May 15 10:40:24 2008
  17 Thu May 15 10:40:25 2008
  17 Thu May 15 10:40:26 2008
  16 Thu May 15 10:40:27 2008
  17 Thu May 15 10:40:28 2008
  16 Thu May 15 10:40:29 2008

Is there a chance to speedup performance?

Bye.
