That's because, until a few years ago, it didn't (and it is still only GNU
find that has it; don't try using it in a POSIX-compliant script).

Or, if you are worried about POSIX portability (since mv -t is also a GNU
extension), you could do things like this to still get the target
directory in the last location:

find ... -exec -c 'mv "$@" target' sh {} +

Well, I was only sketching out an idea, and assuming you could fill in the
details. Yes, you need to either mv the tarball, use a full path to it,
or use the tar -C option, or something similar...

mount understands both styles of slashes (since Windows understands both
styles of slashes). And / is much easier to script with than \. So I
prefer cygpath -m wherever possible.

As long as both directories are either managed or not managed:
mv /cygdrive/d/ef2EF "/cygdrive/c/Documents and Settings/Francky Leyn/My
Documents/accounts/"

Otherwise, when crossing managed boundaries, you currently have to do:
cp -pR dirA dirB && rm -Rf dirA

[I still wish that attempting a rename(2) on directories between managed
and non-managed mounts would result in EXDEV, so that mv would fall back
to the hierarchical copy and recreate the correct filenames, rather than
blindly moving the directory and botching all the files contained therein.]

But seeing as how this is the _cygwin_ list, why should we suggest
something that is not cygwin-based?

Somehow your package is missing

/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/pycrypto-2.0.1-py2.5.egg-info

also it shows up in your file listing in the cygwin README.

If such a thing did exist it would certainly not be officially
recommended or supported to it's off-topic for this list. In the bad
old days the Cygwin distro used to be one monolithic file but it was too
cumbersome because it became the file became obsolete the second any
individual package needed to be updated. So this idea is very
unworkable in practice, which is why it hasn't been done that way for
about 9 or 10 years.

I believe that the last time there was a "full.exe" release of cygwin we

A problem wit tgamma function

2007-10-10 Thread Angelo Graziosi

For the sake of completeness I want to flag this.

A recent failure of GFortran tests, regarding the usage of GAMMA
functions, results in the following problem with 'tgamma' on Cygwin
(gcc-3.4.4-3):

=
/*
  gcc --std=c99 test_tgamma.c -lm && ./a.out
*/
#include
#include

#define N_MAX 34
#undef M_PI
#define M_PI 3.14159265358979323846

int main()
{
  float c[N_MAX+1];
  float xs, ts;
  float diff;
  int i;

  c[0] = 1.;
  for (i=1; i<=N_MAX; i++)
c[i] = (2*i-1)*c[i-1]*0.5;

  for (i=1; i<=N_MAX; i++)
{
  xs = i + 0.5f;  /* argument to the gamma function */
  ts = c[i] * sqrtf(M_PI);
  diff = fabsf(tgammaf(xs)-ts)/ts;
  if (diff > 1e-6)
printf("Arg: %g, Exact: %12.8g, tgamma: %12.8g, diff: %12.8g\n",
  xs, ts, tgammaf(xs), diff);
}
  return 0;
}
=

$ ./a.exe
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Cheers,

When I start a process in bash - which pid is correct - Windows Task Manager or ps -ef

2007-10-10 Thread Brian Keener
I have an application that I have been trying to gather info on and it
hangs but it seems finding the pid is difficult for attempting to
attach to it.

An example of this can be seen simply using vim from a bash shell. If
I start bash in a batch file like this:

@echo off
SET MAKE_MODE=unix
SET CYGWIN=binmode ntsec nostrip_title title
rem SET CYGWIN=binmode ntsec nostrip_title title tty
SET
PATH=C:\cygwin\usr\local\bin;C:\cygwin\usr\bin;C:\cygwin\bin;%PATH%;.
C:
chdir \cygwin

bash --login -i
exit

then at the command prompt I enter vim -h so I now have vim loaded in
that window.

I move to another session of bash and do a ps -ef
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~
$ ps -ef

4708 is bash shell that ran the vim process at 4712. As you can also
see I tried the same thing with an rxvt session that started a bash
shell and I ran vim from there 2452-> 908 -> 5292.

Problem is if I go to Windows Task Manager it shows the two vims as
6128 for the 4712 one and 4524 for the 5292 one.

Now in this particular case I don't have a problem with which pid is
correct because it's just vim but the application I have been trying to
gather info on does the same thing.

Should we be seeing or is there a way to see what the other processes
are that account for the missing pids. Windows Task manager does not
have an entry for pid 4712 or for 5292 so where did these numbers come
from - some interim process I imagine I just don't see how it all ties
together.

Any additional info greatly appreciated. I've included a cygcheck
ouytput but is this output from cygcheck normal:

Every process has a Cygwin PID and a Windows PID. Only Cygwin tools can
grok Cygwin PIDs, obviously. There are no "missing" PIDs, it's just
that native tools like taskman have no idea what a Cygwin PID is since
it's a made-up number. It depends on the context as to which you use to
refer to a process -- if you're using a Cygwin app, you use the Cygwin
PID.

(The reason this PID renaming is necessary is to emulate exec() which
has the semantics of replacing a process with a new one while keeping
the same PID, handles, CWD, and so on. Windows does not have any such
concept so it has to be emulated by spawning the new process and then
referring to it by the old PID of the parent that has now terminated,
even though this child has a new PID assigned by the OS.)

Even simpler testcase:
$ cat t.c && gcc t.c -o t && ./t
#include
int main() {tgammaf(1.);}
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I believe this is fixed in newlib CVS.

I've been having at this for two days now, researching, reading,
reading, reading, and I'm not making progress. Thus I'm finally sending
this out to you knowledeable folks with the hope that someone will be
like "Oh, geeze. You dummy. Do this, this this, done."

I've got access to every side of things. Noone else uses the machines.
Security comes in the form of locked doors and guards. :)

Also I will note that /data was made inside cygwin.

My guess is that 'Y:' is a network drive that requires authentication to
access. It's apparently owned by a domain user not in your '/etc/passwd'
file, which accounts for the '???' stuff. But things would be clearer if
we knew more about your installation and configuration (thus the pointer
to the problem reports guidelines above. ;-) )

okay, but is there a full installer availabe for current cygwin

by 'full installer' i mean a installer which never need to download
files from ineternet when do installation. the file you refered to is
a network installer.

Officially, there is no such thing, and there will not be for the
reasons explained in this thread. Maybe you can search the archives for
"cygwin on a platter" to find out about the CD installer (or was it
meant to be run from the CD?) that someone recently posted.

Oh, and I see I just rehashed Brian's previous post. I therefore repeat
the first statement in my reply (i.e. the one in all caps).

Yes, please read the link above. It helps all on this list.

And there's no reason that one cannot download, through 'setup.exe', or
with one's favorite utility, the full distribution and then make one's own
DVD. Then one could use 'setup.exe' to install the files from the DVD
instead. If _one_ wanted to. ;-)

'setup.exe' is not just a network installer, though that is it's most common
usage.

How is cron started

2007-10-10 Thread Vidiot
At the moment, my piece of crap mobo wants to screw up every now and then.
I'm looking for a different mobo and processor.

Tonight, for example, it decided to croak and reboot. So, I wanted to turn
off having to log in so that my stuff will restart. I don't remember how
I set XP to cause the login to appear. I've only gotten it to remove my
password, but I still have to click on my login name (the only name).

Well, I discovered that cron didn't start. Because of it, a job that was
supposed to start, didn't :-(

Just where is cron stated in an XP SP2 system? I installed it to work for me.

Thanks.

Thanks, it actually started. I forgot that it was cygrunsrv and it is in
the task manager list of tasks.

Now to figure out what went wrong.

Isn't cygrunsrv supposed to show up when I do a ps?
