Stus-List Captain License
Captains, admirals, crew, and all affiliated. I'm asking a favor from like minded souls, young and old with salt or fresh water in their veins. My son, Ty, is taking his hundred ton captain tests today, Wednesday, and Thursday, in Mandeville LA( ehh-hem...Dennis, guess I could be referred to as rambunctious' grandfather )... Anyway, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He's almost thirty years old, lives for the sea. After being in from a thirty day hitch from wherever he's been on the blue marble, whichever lat/lon, after a couple days"I'm ready to go back to work!". Stus-List Universal M4-30
I've found a Universal M4-30 close to home, 100 miles away, $3,000. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are parts available? The seller says its been completely rebuilt and has one hour on it, was on eBay earlier this year for $4,5000, why didn't it sell?? My '78 29-1 has long since had the A4 gutted along with the fuel tank, panel, shaft and everything but the strut, gone! It was gifted to me with a long shaft 9.9.She's on the hard here in Mississippi, needing a few other things as well.I just cant bring myself to launch her with that O/B astern. So the question I'm asking is Pull the trigger on the M4 or hold off, wait for a better opportunity? Stus-List Photo Album
Listers, Can anyone say what may be going on with the photo album? I can’t seem to connect to it from old saved links, a new search, or any other way. All my devices return “cannot find page”. I’ve been to the site LOTS of times. Just wanted to do research on a few things. Possibly post a link and try that. Stus-List Cozumel
Anyone in Cozumel? We’re, the admiral and I and two other couples, are getting away to Mexico the end of August and first few days of September. Do we have a C&C representative on the island that would be interested in a few hour cruise? The other couples have never sailed, all I can google up is catamarans, they need to feel the heel of a monohull. No fishing, diving or swimming, just enjoy the breeze. I’ll supply refreshing beverages Thanks, Jason C&C 29 I Sent from my iPhone ___ Thanks everyone for supporting this list with your contributions. Each and every one is greatly appreciated. Stus-List Perkins M30
I'd like to get the lists thoughts on repowering a '78, 29 II with an M 30. Anyone done this, any experience with these two? I've located the donor power plant for around $3000 USD. Needs strainer, racor, and maybe a few other things. Seller says cables come with it, not sure if that's electrical cables or throttle cables. Re: Stus-List Engine clean-up
Charley, Use paint remover from Lowes (liquid) and Auto Zone (spray can). Get small tooth brush-like wire brushes, sander/wire brush for drill, scraping tools (putty knife, screwdriver, etc). Use lacquer thinner to clean that mess, let dry. Get pampers, yes baby diapers, to lay under, around, above, wherever, the engine to catch and soak up the mess, (they’re useful to catch dripping oil too, don’t ask how I know). Blue tape to mask miscellaneous parts, name plate, hoses, wiring. Enjoy that ENTIRE day, second day prime what needs it then paint until your hearts content. I did that routine in January, worked really well, made it up as I went, secret recipe. Three ol buds came by at separate times and each asked “IS THAT A NEW MOTOR?” Made me feel better, but what did they say to themselves before. Stus-List Re: Edson Steering Sheave Assembly Bolt Failure.
Hi all! I’m looking at the same problem with mine, 29-1, 1978. I’m thinking it’ll be easier, less boat bucks and leave a roomier cockpit to switch to a tiller. My idler plate looked fine until I touched it, finger sunk right into this “steel” plate. Then with screwdriver and such I was able to easily crumble away probably a third of the original mass… SCARY to say the least. The paint held its shape really well! Thoughts on changing out pedestal for a tiller? I don’t have instruments on binnacle, compass is the only thing that will have to be replaced.
