Acetone.

I tried all the suggestions of Mineral Spirits, Paint Thinner, Goof-Off,
etc. to get labels off wine bottles.  None of them worked.  Acetone took
it off and left a nice clean surface.  I miss the old days of 1-1-1
Trico and Freon.

Re: Stus-List Water Storage on 35-II & Drill Bit Set question

2018-11-29 Thread dwight veinot via CnC-List
I have no such water issues on my 35 mkii Alianna hull no 242. It was
rather difficult to get myself back to where i needed to get to adjust
tension on my sterring cables. I cut away a small portion of the aft frame
port side with a keyhole saw and was able to squeeze myself back with tools
and light in hand to work on the quadrant including installing new grease
cups, the rudder angle sensor for my Raymarine autopilot and to replace a
broken axle on one of the sheaves, the original that i broke while in
reverse by losing control of the wheel was like a shear pin and tensioning
and lubricating the cable. I was able to install my swim ladder by removing
the access port on the deck just forward of the taffrail. That was about 10
years ago and the hull is still stronger than any bendy toy. My aft jack
stands contact where that bit of frame was removed. No issue. I am not sure
i like the idea of a cut out in the cockpit behind the steering post but i
have seen one on a friends 35mkii and i did consider it so i look forward
to seeing what Eric did on Cat’s Paw

Spray can electrical contact cleaner or brake cleaner are both high flash
point solvents that will remove the goop. Not sure how aggressive they'll
be on an Awlgrip paint finish though. I'd try using it on a hidden sample
area before I sprayed liberally on the area where the stickers used to be.
Make sure to wear gloves though as both are nasty chemicals that include
toluene.

Don't you just put the new stickers over the old spot?

Hey all;

I finally managed to remove the 2018 CRW bow stickers from my boat--talk about
delaying things!

Anyhow, I am now left with the residue of the glue on my Awlgrip painted hull.

Goo-gone did nothing to help remove them or the glue residue.

I am thinking I need a petroleum based product but am hesitant to just go for
it because of the Awlgrip.

OTOH, I am hesitant to use a scotch-brite pad, etc. for fear of scratching the
Awlgrip.

Of course it may have been easier if I had not procrastinated 7+ months in
