Re: Stus-List Irma 1 : Ox <1

2017-10-05 Thread David Paine via CnC-List
Hi Bob,

I'm very sorry to hear that the mighty Ox has fallen!

I'm a fellow C&C33-I owner. I hope this isn't too crass, but if you have a
bimni for Ox, I would be interested in it. Also, (and this is really a
stretch), I have been thinking of rebuilding my rudder. If the boat goes
to the dumpster, I'd be interested in the rudder.

Let me know!

Again, sorry to see another C&C 33-I leave the fleet!

Best,

David

Stus-List Toe rail leak

2017-10-05 Thread robert via CnC-List
I agree with DennisCaptain Tolley is a liquid when applied where
ever water can creep or find its way, so can Capt. Tolley creep I
guess that is where it gets its full name.

And although it comes in a small bottle, one bottle seems to go a long
waybottom line, the stuff works and can not be any easier to apply.

Not the way I use it. I just use it to stop water intrusion
between the
toe rail and deck. It may work on the bolts but I've never
tried it.

Hi David,
The "bimini" consisted of two solar panels mounted on some aluminum tubing.
It was destroyed. The rudder shaft was bent about 10 degrees.
Regardless, the boat has since changed hands a few times and I do not know
its fate.
Cheers,

P.S. And no, not crass at all. :-)

All I know is that I, and others, have seen leaks decrease or stop after
applying Captain Tolley's to the inboard edge of the toe rail. It may just be
that the stuff is so watery that it finds it's way under the rail, possibly
sneaks around the fasteners and works its magic. Whether it finds its way to
the rub rail I can't say. :)

Yup. Doing that again. But as an interim fix...

Probably but I'd use butyl rubber for those.

Is the Tolly creeping down to those areas?

Not the way I use it. I just use it to stop water intrusion between the
toe rail and deck. It may work on the bolts but I've never tried it.

Someone on the thread had a replacement for the handles on the throttle and

Hello,

There is / was a C&C 110 group on Sailing Networks. That site is unreliable
and going away. If you are interested in the C&C 110 there is a new facebook
group.

Search for
C&C 110 Owner
And you'll find it.

Touche's slip in Mandeville, LA is a fixed pier. It has been submerged for a
couple days now from that system that was around northeastern Florida last
week. Strong easterly winds for days pushes water into Lake Pontchartrain
through The Rigolets. My dock box probably has several inches of water in it.
I keep everything in tubs so unless the water gets 2 feet or so over the dock,
everything is OK. Pain in the butt to go pull everything out, mop it out and

The other issue is the mud on the dock. If one of the boat owners doesn't get
down there while the mud is still wet and hose it off, it's a pain in the butt
to wash the dock boards after the mud dries.

Anyway, Touche' is still in Pensacola on a floating pier. If I go over to do
storm prep (remove sails and canvas), I may have to stop by Mandeville and wade
through the marina to get storm dock lines out of my dock box. Always fun with
the snakes, fire ants and gators. :(

Re: Stus-List Another danged storm

2017-10-05 Thread Rick Brass via CnC-List
Dennis;

Given the 11PM forecast for Nate, it actually may be a blessing that Touché is
in Pensacola. (for listers who don’t check the NHC for updates two or three
times a day, like those of us in the southeast and gulf coast, the track for
Nate keeps moving west, and the consensus seems to be that it will come ashore
near Nawlens as a Cat1 storm)

Looks like Nate may go back offshore after passing Long Island Sound as a 25kt
tropical depression about Monday evening.
