Tim,

Great topic. I’m interested as well. Sounds like a great winter
project…although I think my project list is full already.

Jimmy, I'm considering reinforcement on a 35-3 this winter. Any advice on
where to start? We just can't get the forestay tension we'd like these days.

Thanks,

Tim

Stus-List Chunk of shaped lead in the bilge?

2014-11-05 Thread tim via CnC-List
Hi,

I am cleaning out my bilge, and tightening the keel bolts. In doing the
cleanout, I found a chuck of shaped lead (probably 20#) towards the front of
the bilge area. It is not attached to anything. It is angled to fit in the
bilge. Just curious if anyone may know the purpose of the chunk?

Thanks for your thoughts.

PHRF cheat weight.

Buddy of mine found about 150# of lead hidden under the floor of his boat
after he bought it.

My Peterson 41 had 1200 # of lead in the bilge. When I checked on the PHRF
history I found that the boat was penalized 3 seconds a mile when it was
added. I removed the lead and was penalized another 3 seconds a mile.

Tim,

If your boat was ever measured for a one design racing a small amount of
correction weight may have been added.
