[clamav-users] Missing init scripts in 0.97.6
Hi, can somebody explain me why the 'contrib' top-level directory is removed from the source tree in 0.97.6 tarball? Somewhere i found that it is presented only in the development version within github: https://github.com/vrtadmin/clamav-devel Moreover, even there, there are no more init scripts within. Previous versions contained /contrib/init/RedHat, for example with the usable init scripts. The entire contrib/init directory was about 50-60K in size and i'm really can not understand why it is removed - without any notifications in changelogs? Any ideas - and any init script available for RedHat / Centos? -------- Ventsyslav Vassilev Comel Soft Multimedia, Ltd. 1517 Sofia, Bulgaria ___ Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: visit http://wiki.clamav.net http://www.clamav.net/support/ml
Re: [clamav-users] Missing init scripts in 0.97.6
Thank to both Jim and Tom. In fact, the old RedHat init script (found back in 0.94.2) seems to be working without any noticeable issues for me, but if there are any changes needed related to the new clamav versions, it will be good to see them. So, Jim, you can send me the stuff you have, if you want of course. My apologies to Tom also, i examined the 0.97.6 tarball Change log again and found the line confirming that the contrib/init directory was removed. So my initial message was not entirely correct. Anyway, i'm not the person who may say the removal is logical or not, just can say the RedHat init script was useful to me. Thanks again. [Clamav-users] Files number limit exceeded ERROR while scanning a PDF file
Hello, recently i faced the following error message: "Files number limit exceeded ERROR" while my Clamav 0.92.1 tried to scan an e-mail message containg 2 attached PDF files. I use Qmail Scanner and the problem occurs when the message was successfully unpacked and when clamdscan was ran agains one of the attached files (i can see that thanks to the Qmail Scanner logs). I use Clamav for years ago and this is the first time i face such a problem. Searching within the archives of this list, i found a posting with similar problem from 2008-02-07: http://lurker.clamav.net/message/20080207.183407.91685025.en.html But the reply posted mentioned the problem might be related to the ArchiveMaxFiles option (with a value of 3000 in my clamd.conf) which in my case is not suitable hypothesis - because the problem occured without any archives scanned (or, maybe the way the PDF files are scanned is somehow different, i don't know). This is (for now) the only message facing such a situation. Some with any ideas where the problem may came from? Re: [Clamav-users] 0.93 rpm installation: libclamunrar_iface.so.3missing
> > What have I done wrong? > > Mogens > Why not just make a source install? I use clamav for several years on many Red Hat based distros and never had any problems compiling and installing the vanilla clamav source, including 0.93... Just a suggestion... ------- Ventsyslav Vassilev Comel Soft Multimedia, Ltd. ___ Help us build a comprehensive ClamAV guide: visit http://wiki.clamav.net http://lurker.clamav.net/list/clamav-users.html

You are kidding, aren't you ;-) > > It's just easier this way. > > Mogens > -- The init scripts are ready to use within the contrib/init directory of the source install... It's just a matter of 3 or 4 commands... Anyway - everybody has the right to use the things the way he wants, but the reason you provided does not look serious, indeed...
