Re: [ccp4bb] honeybee repair?

2018-12-19 Thread Ulrike Demmer
Hi Jon,

here in Germany we got the Honey Bee installed by Zinsser Analytic.
May be they are still doing the service .

http://www.medicalexpo.de/prod/zinsser-analytic/product-70627-771591.html

You have to scroll down the page a bit to find Zinsser.

Good luck !

Ulrike

[ccp4bb] Postdoc position (X-ray and/or Cryo-EM) to study RNA silencing

2018-12-19 Thread
Dear colleagues,

The Nakanishi lab is looking for a self-motivated structural biologist
interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of diversified RNA silencing
by human Argonaute proteins and their binding partners. The position is
available immediately and will remain open until filled.

MicroRNAs and other small RNAs are loaded into different Argonaute proteins to
form unique effector complexes, regulating many biological processes. Humans
have four Argonaute paralogs, each of which is responsible for specialized
roles. Our focus is to understand the molecular bases for their unique RNA
silencing. To this end, we take a combinatorial approach of molecular biology,
biochemical and biophysical methods, and structural biology (crystallography
and cryo-EM). Candidates should have a strong background and expertise in X-ray
crystallography or single-particle electron microscopy and the biochemical
experiments. Applicants with experience in RNA biology will be stronger
candidates. New Ph.D. graduates are encouraged to apply.

My group has a great environment to pursue goals. We own multiple AKTA FPLC
systems and an automatic crystal plate imaging system. We have access to OSU
Campus Chemical Instrument Center in the same building that has a
crystallization robot (Mosquito) and a laboratory-scale X-ray diffractometer
(Rigaku MicroMax-003 with a Pilatus 200K detector). We remotely carry out our
crystallographic experiments at The Advanced Photon Source. The Ohio State
University has a state-of-the-art cryo-EM facility, CEMAS (URL:
https://cemas.osu.edu), that is located within a 5 min driving distance from my
lab. There is a Titan Krios with a K3 Bioquantum direct electron detector,
imaging phase plates, STEM/TEM tomography, and an image spherical aberration
corrector.

Interested candidates should email a cover letter describing their research
experience, a curriculum vitae, and the names of three references (one should
be the current supervisor) to nakanish...@osu.edu.

Best,
Kotaro
