Re: Rename aFilesystem name for a VM machine
Hello Robert, the behavior of the TSM server was changed as we received PMRs from users not being able to access their VM backups after such renames. Thus with APAR IC92869 ( https://www-304.ibm.com/support/entdocview.wss?uid=swg1IC92869) the ability to rename file spaces of VM backups was disabled. What is the reason, why you rename the file space? Is the original VM disposed and you want to mark this deletion in the file space name by renaming it? So do you want to keep the file space as inactive until you finally delete it? In that case you may use the "FORCE=YES" option together with the rename file space command. This will bring back the old behavior of the command. However - once a file space is renamed it will no longer show up when you look for existing backups in the VE GUI - If you want to rename the file space because the VM was renamed, you will not be able to access any old backup under the new name. You will have a mixture of accessible and inaccessible backups within one file space. - Once renamed you have to rename the file space back to the original name, if you want to access VM backups. I hope that helps. I was able to go forward one step by editing /opt/tivoli/tsm/cms/Liberty/usr/servers/cmsServer/bootstrap.properties file and adding a password (abc123) and restarted the service : 4c4 < tsm.truststore.pswd=abc123 --- > tsm.truststore.pswd= Now, the 9028 port is listenning and OC is able to connect to CMS, but i get the message “There are no recommendations available. For more information, see the Tivoli Storage Manager Documentation.” in french : "Aucune recommandation n'est disponible. Pour plus d'informations, voir la documentation Tivoli Storage Manager." The things to verify are the node, tsmServer, port, logPath, and dateTimeFormat (this one is very important, make sure it matches the date time format that the error log has). 3. There is a known defect where CMS doe not work when run from a time zone east of UTC. Please contact support if you have that situation and they can get the fix to you. 4. Re: fibre channel question on 3592 tape drives
Agreed! You define the path with the server device file (rmtX on aix). On first access tsm will populate the drive with all the specs of the drive (s/n, wwn, etc). You use the wwpn for zoning. Check the switch port for a drive - use the wwn that is logged into the switch. Correct. You can do a VM full backup with the basic client, without TSM/VE.
