I've never used malloc and not se my going to use it in interrupt so personally this is a moot point. Like others I think from practical point of view an insecure malloc is must so that those who need squeeze out the last bit of performance can do it and wrapping it in critical section is trivial. However, does the C-standard say anything about this? I always prefer to adhere to the standard as far as language features are concerned.
