Hello,

I wanted to mention this.  The new version of smarttools that I put on the
web supports a PAM module that will do call backs if the request is on a
remote machine.  I'm not making any claims to high security here but it is
more proof of concept (and a cool demo).  You can telnet from one machine
to the other and the machine you are telnetting to will use it's public key
and call back the callers machine's PC/SC resource manager and perform the
authentication.  This would prevent a clear text password from being
transmitted through telnet.
