Dear all, A new release of Image Scan! for Linux has been made available at our website[1]. This release updates both the core and data packages. For information on which versions of what packages you need, please see the FAQ[2] on that topic.

Noteworthy changes to the core package: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iscan-2.27.1 (2011-09-13) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * adds resolution information to JPEG files * fixes scan area selection issues in the GUI * fixes deskew check box activation issues in the GUI * disables the deskew option when previewing or zooming * fixes scan area selection for duplex scans with certain models ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iscan-2.27.0 (2011-08-03) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * not publicly released * adds brightness and contrast options to the backend * adds an option to select the brightness algorithm. This option is not available in the GUI. * adds support for optional deskewing and autocropping options. This requires installation of the non-free iscan-plugin-esdip package to make the options available. When either option is activated, many SANE frontends will become unresponsive until the whole image has been scanned. This is not a bug but a limitation of the SANE API. * moves the Tone Correction controls to a tab of their own * adds functionally severely limited brightness and contrast controls to the GUI The iscan-plugin-esdip package mentioned above only supports selected models. At the moment that list is still(?) very short: - ES-D200 - ES-D400 - GT-S50 - GT-S80 The download pages for those models should list the plugin. If someone could yet again commit these to sane-backends that would be appreciated.
