There have been a number of posts recently regarding the Benq 5000U. The device reports an identity of 0x04a5 0x20f8 and it is easy to patch the snapscan.conf file to allow it to be recognised. It is clearly different from the vanilla "5000" not least that it uses different firmware (mine came with 20F8V114.bin) Oliver Schwartz said in a post on 18th Feb 2005: /Other reports indicate that the scanner is now detected but it does not work anyway. It may be necessary to get a USB trace from the windows driver to see what's different for this scanner. / I'd like to help and I've got the scanner working on an old Win 98 box I had lying around so how do I get the USB trace and who do I send it to? Thanks Stuart --------------070704010704010809080604 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta content="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1" http-equiv="Content-Type"> <title></title> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#000000"> There have been a number of posts recently regarding the Benq 5000U.
