I had a similar problem (black scans with HP Scanjet 7400C; OS: Mandrake Linux 9.2). I had also reported this to the list. I tried patching the source and recompiling as suggested below. The compile succeeded. Sane detected the scanner (which is now a scsi-generic scanner instead of the earlier usb scanner). However xsane hangs on clicking the button "Acquire preview". What have I got wrong? Will appreciate help on this. Pramathesh Ambasta

It looks like you run a very old version of SANE/Avision. Just update to: http://svn.rocklinux-consulting.de/sane-avision/trunk/backend/ http://www.rocklinux-consulting.de/oss/avision/ It should just work then. (incl. ADF and 16 bit scans) > Regards, > Erik P. olsen Yours sincerely, Ren=E9 Rebe - ROCK Linux stable release maintainer -- = Ren=E9 Rebe - Europe/Germany/Berlin r...@rocklinux.org r...@rocklinux-consulting.de http://www.rocklinux.org http://www.rocklinux-consulting.de http://gsmp.tfh-berlin.de/gsmp http://gsmp.tfh-berlin.de/rene </end quote>
