I don't think it's necessary to do that. YOu never know if it will work afterwards. You could try sane-find-scanner of the latest CVS code. unload the scanner module and run sane-find-scanner. It should return "GL646_HP". If it doesn't, please show us the output of "sane-find-scanner -v -v". Bye, Henning
