But shouldn't /proc/bus/usb/devices contain at least an entry for the USB root hub and an entry of the scanner with "driver = (none)"? Maybe it's a more general problem with USB on his system. Is the scanner detected in syslog messages (/var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog)? Bye, Henning
