Sorry to ask a newbie question, but I need some help getting my scanner going under Red Hat 7.1.
I have sane 0.82 and xsane 1.0.3 installed. I did not config my kernel for the scanner at the time of install, but I would like to do that now. When I try to start xsane, I get the error "xsane: no devices available." I've been all over the Sane web site, read How-to's on hardware/scsi/kernel, etc., and ended up with a major headache. I guess I need help with just the basics, configuring my system to use a SCSI scanner device. The SCSI card is a Symbios Logic SCSI interface card (chip set Sym53C400A, card # C2502) for my ScanJet 3C. As you can probably tell, I'm new to Linux. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Chris
