With 6.3.2443 the handle count is staying at ~400, before it was increasing by 
~400 with every check cycle. Looking better now, thanks a lot!

We had this issue again on the weekend before the last, and I saw that the 
serversalive.exe was having a handle count of around 116000. It was not 
possible to open a new connection to the NetApp filer. 

 

I did some cleanup now: 

-      No connection to the NetApp system for the admin account when logged on 
(like home share) 

-      The admin account was configured for authentication in some checks, 
despite we have a special account for this – corrected 

“Admin account” is the one that is using the GUI, not the service 
account (that is local system). 

 

I set the checks to the NetApp filer all to MAINT on this weekend, but still 
the handle count was increasing continuously. The checks against the second 
NetApp system are still active. 

 

We have some 1400 checks configured. 

 

Still on 6.3.2423

Of course I understand this point. These two systems are working together in a 
cluster configuration. Nevertheless we know we will have issues (that will 
disturb our users) on a reboot of one of the nodes, and some admins will have 
to become active on this. So we cannot do it without a legitimate reason during 
our business times, and as we cannot predict which time the error will come up 
again we cannot plan it for the weekend, which would be a costy operation 
anyhow.

Based on the info I receiver from you it seems that Servers Alive is doing 
similar checks on other systems too (even on other NetApp Filer's too) and 
those chekcs work perfectly.  Only the checks towards one specific check are 
giving the issue.  In order to determine if the system being checked is part of 
the "problem" it does seem a good idea that instead of rebooting the Servers 
Alive system when you have the problem, you would reboot that NetApp filer 
system.

Good morning, 

 

with our new  (since 1 month) SA installation from time to time we see checks 
failing with “ERR1450 “Nicht genügend Systemressourcen, um den 
angeforderten Dienst auszuführen.” (“Insufficient system resources 
exist to complete the requested service.”). 

“). The checks are 

-      9 external COM check (CountFiles Check) 

-      5 Diskspace checks 

and all they are all connecting to the same system, a NetApp Filer. 

Checks connecting to the second system are not showing this issue, these are 
more (39), but only Diskspace checks. 

There are more CountFiles checks, but they are connecting to Windows based 
systems. 

 

The errors are not showing up in the eventlogs. 

 

We have to restart the server to get it working again – German Windows 
2003 Server with SP2, installed on hardware. SA version is 6.3.2423. 

 

Did anyone see like this before and knows which resources are mentioned?
