I think your original plan is probably the best. Although, you still have to
touch each one of the items to change it. To me, setting the dependency could
be worth the effort, then it’s there for the future. Having dependencies
also eliminates unnecessary alerts.

This sounds like a feature request to me - the ability to set a scheduled
maintenance window, but have the schedule disappear at the end of the window.

Dirk - how about a check box on the Schedule tab that says something like
“Temporary Schedule” or “One-Time Schedule” that
removes the schedule once it is complete? Or maybe a box that allows the entry
of a number for the number of times the schedule is run before it is
automatically removed?

Just some random thoughts.

That would work also for sure. Not sure if it meets the temporary nature of my
situation though (and right now I don’t have the much time to sort
through all the possible hosts to see if they match that pattern. ;)

Are your external IP checks dependent on any other check? If so, you could
place the parent on maintenance (manually or via a schedule), and the dependent
items won’t be monitored.

If those external IP checks are not dependent, could they be? It would take
front-end work to get it set up, but this weekend, and in the future, you would
easily be able to exclude these checks from monitoring with a few simple clicks.

We are having a security audit done this weekend could expect a flood of
traffic to our external facing IP’s during a set time.

Is there a way to add a temp checking schedule for that time without wiping out
my current settings? I looked at a Global Change but am afraid I’ll lose
all my other settings.

I guess I could save the original host file – make the changes I need and
re-save that file as a different name – once done re-apply the original
host file.

Still it would be nice to make temp changes now and again?
