I'm currently exporting checks to a SQL database. After that I've got a number of SQL views to the interchange table that some EXCEL sheets are referencing to report uptime percentage.
This is for version 6 and again, its complex as hell but I had good experience with TSQL. I'd love an executive report that could e-mail me with the uptime on a daily basis. Not as flexible as storing it somewhere and allowing complex references or reporting from a web page but simple and sweet. Just what you need to please a manager. Seriously though, I don't tend to think of Servers Alive as a reporting and monitoring tool but as an alerting tool. We have another department setting up LanDesk to do the monitoring and reporting but I'd still keep Servers Alive because it's a wonderfully simple tool for setting up and providing alerts to problems across an enterprise (GOD I hate those 3am SMS messages). During that period some fast system could go to BSOD, restart and boot up without any notice. I find that the output from the SA is not suifficent. I mean we get only UID which si useless unless you pair it with another db (salive statistical logging) to get hostname and prettyname. Would be possible to add these 2 fields into uptime monitoring table?
