Make sure that SQL DMO libs are installed in such way that the usr running SA
can see them.
Also in some cases the SQL installer does NOT registered the DLLs correctly.
There are 2 options that sometimes helps:
do a
REGSVR32 SQLDMO.DLL from within the directory
were you have that DLL
OR
run the serversalive.exe from within the same
directory as the SQLDMO.DLL file

If you do a count(*), then you can ask SA to error if the count is wrong. SA
will only get a result from the top right cell of the result set.

Subject: [SA-list] Enabeling SQL checks in Servers Alive...
Hello I am trying to implement an SQL check in Servers alive that will monitor
a result set…
I am wondering if somehow using external com checks or DB checks if its
possible to have servers alive monitor if the following line of SQL:
select * from sys.dm_tran_locks where request_type='LOCK' and
request_status<>'GRANT'
Returns say more then 5 rows of data… is this possible? I imagine for the
guru’s it is.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
