Hi Yes. Thank you. I place a small role in Sage, thanks to all the upstream developers.
The PPA is not a real package built from source, but a binary package copying files over form an upstream binary built on Sage's buildfarm. Something about Sage's build process which I don't understand makes it extremely hard to debianize, but also hard enough for me to just to copy into place.
