One thing to think about - is there a buildbot process for 
sourceforge-hosted projects?  CRAN (for R) is pretty regular with its 
requirements of all packages building on all supported platforms and they 
seem to have this figured out.  But I don't know if there is a generic 
thing like this available to OSS projects.
