This is not directly related to Sage. However, Sage for Windows relies on
VirtualBox.
How have you installed Sage to computer classes that has windows? The image is
several GB of size, so it is dumb to copy disk image to everyone's home
directory. On the other hand, if you have local .vdi, everyone can for example
see what others using same computer had done -- in theory also change it's
content to ask passwords etc.
At http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch05.html, on part Special image write
modes, reads "immutable images only remember write accesses temporarily while
the virtual machine is running; all changes are lost when the virtual machine
is powered on the next time." and "An image in multiattach mode can be attached
to more than one virtual machine at the same time, even if these machines are
running simultaneously. For each virtual machine to which such an image is
attached, a differencing image is created."
So, I guess system could have basic .vdi installed on the local hard disk as
read-only mode, and a differencing image to user's home directory. But before
trying out I would like to know if somebody has done that before.
