Unfortunately, a lot of stuff with symbolic matrices is now broken after our switch to using Pynac/Ginac for symbolics. We only just uncovered a lot of it. In fact, we're not even sure what's all broken! See http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/6934 for (a little) more information. But at least a lot of that should have worked in the past.
However, it would be helpful to know exactly what is not working. Are you trying to solve a matrix equation with mat1, or find eigenvalues, or ...? What you have posted seems to be just the matrix in HTML/ jsmath form and in Sage form; some input/output pairs would be helpful to diagnose, particularly the error Traceback information.
