With all due respect to your experiences, the AI in the 80s couldn't play chess much better than a Turkish chess automaton in the 1770's. If I read the newspapers of the last months correctly, there have been some qualitative changes in the meantime. But the nice thing, and I wanted to point that out with this thread, is that we don't have to philosophize about it anymore; everyone can grab a project on GitHub, clone it and try out what this software has to offer.
