I'll send you privately my latest version of the intro of the book in
case any material there could be reused. You can also shoot straight
for the English version; whatever feels more comfortable.

For a relaxed learning curve, you can start by editing directly a new
file (say access.rst) on github's web interface:

With another file as example under hand, the reST syntax is fairly
straightforward. Send me your github login, and I'll grant you write
access to the repository. Any edit can easily be undone, so just feel
free to hack in.
