In such a case you should try to agree with everybody which of the two approaches is best and just use that.

"With everybody" is impossible. Would there be, say, 30 people "voting" I could say that by numbers 20-10 we have decided to do this in style X and not in style Y. But numbers 2-1 does not seem so strong base for decision. There could be a leader to say that "we use style X and those who like style Y can fork their own version", but we don't have one.
