I think I understand now. I was misled by the person claiming Pari required sizeof(long) == sizeof(void*) and Bill Allombert debunking it. Bill was of course correct (he is a Pari dev). As for assuming sizeof(mp_limb_t) == sizeof(void*) we probably have the same issue in Flint. We will very slowly address this and have been making patches here and there. It's not a priority. However, that issue is entirely irrelevant to MSYS2. By default on that system both sizeof(mp_limb_t) and sizeof(void*) are 8 on Windows 64.
