That being said, your example is extremly different. As far as I can
read, the MariaDB is mostly developed by engineers from MariaDB
Corporation. So it is a sort of outcome that the corporation decided to
put in open source (note that I might be wrong).
For SageMath, the situation is different. As the software came first and
most people developing it are not from SageMath Inc. But developers have
no right on whatever is doing SageMath Inc. For this reason, I
definitely understand the bad feeling of Nathann. Having more
distinction between SageMath (the software) and SageMath (the
corporation) would be better.
