I'd have checked that an email is kept in the user profile.
At least when I log in to sagenb.org using my Google openid
it asks my permission to view my email, and then pops up a
form prefilled with an email, too:

It should be easy to harvest emails from the account and
do a couple of rounds of mass-mailing.
If the emails are there, but nothing is done, it'd lead to the loss
of quite a few karma points amoung unsuspecting sagenb.org users...
If you need hands to do so, please ask around here, I am sure people
who can and will do this quickly can be found.
