It may be a good decision for some tickets, but it could be dangerous for some others, like bugfixes: even if the original author got hired by Maple in the meantime, the bug has to be fixed and must not be forgotten. I am not at all (noooooooot at all) opposed to what you propose, but let's keep an eye on what it means for those tickets anyway.
