As one of the people who voted yes, I definitely prefer guidelines. I also think that those who care should work towards editing the "guidelines" on the wiki with the aim of reaching a consensus so that we can vote on it. As the vote for the "code of conduct" was very close and there are a significant number of people who are unhappy with the outcome, or the with way in which the vote was conducted (or both), we have to do something. One of the aims of introducing this code was to help bring the community closer together and I think it's failed dismally in this regard.
