Best-out-of-30 startup times for various versions on sage.math in /home (mounted over NFS):
sage-4.6: 2.4s sage-4.7: 2.5s sage-4.8: 2.5s sage-5.0.1: 2.2s sage-5.2: 2.7s It seems sage-5.0 saw an improvement (I guess due to Python-2.7), but it got worse again.
