It builds on openSUSE 12.1, and "make ptestlong" works! Is there a list of platforms that are "officially supported" and a list of platforms that are not officially supported but on which Sage "should work"? Then one could perhaps update that list. At least in Germany (and I guess only there), openSUSE is a major Linux distribution, and as much as I know Sage has not worked with it before.
