I am not having a specific problem except trying to understand the
minimum requirements.
I am interested in packaging sage (not debianizing, just getting a deb).
This is a 64bit Ubuntu 11.10 install, and I have installed very few
things extra.
Just now python failed to build and I had to add dpkg-dev.
Yes, earlier m4 caused a fail. I purged it now, stopped the make,
re-untarred sage,
and reran make. Install.log attached.

are you planning to create a ppa and if so will you support i386 as well
as 64 bit I love to install it at home also the 64 bit would do for work
