By the time we finish the speech input it will be obsolete. :) Can't wait for these EMotiv <http://emotiv.com/> interfaces to improve.
Spoken input is definitely an interesting field. However, I don't know how widely spread it will become, as one may not find itself alone in a room too often. Google Chrome has speech input and I never used it. That does not mean it's not a feature that's worth added to an editor. I'm not aware of the similarities between normal spoken input and subvocal<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subvocal_recognition>input but, if they are working with the same kind of data, then that would be a big plus. I am really shocked that the list of open source software packages<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_speech_recognition_software>dealing with speech recognition is so short. RWTH ASR <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RWTH_ASR> looks promising.
