Please be careful to not throw away "too much". Some people buidling Sage from source do *want* a libjpeg on their system to be taken into accont by their PIL in Sage! By the way, searching for "PIL" (just these three letters) in this very google group brought up the following thread: http://groups.google.com/group/sage-devel/browse_thread/thread/7cc13138e62ada7b/6c0aa7a124c6baca?lnk=gst&q=PIL#6c0aa7a124c6baca which might contain valuable information for anybody working on the Sage PIL spkg. (The environment variable is $SAGE_BINARY_BUILD, as noted in Tims last post there). Searching in trac should bring up the respective ticket as a hit.
