The file local/lib/ecl-11.1.1/maxima.fas does *not* affect the normal functioning of maxima. The standard build script of maxima produces a stand-alone executable. The file "local/ lib/ecl-11.1.1/maxima.fas" only gets built afterward and only gets used with maxima-as-a-library, i.e., not at all with version <=4.7.
