builds and passes all tests on OSX 10.5 PPC (G4).
(one test needed a re-run with -long option, as it was running out of
time)

builds and passes all tests on Linux Debian amd64.
(The test
sage -t -long -force_lib "devel/sage/sage/sandpiles/sandpile.py"
needs 513 seconds, which looks like a case of exceedingly slow
communication
between Sage and an external lib (Singular?))
