At least for the Mac OS X whirled, asking for valgrind was like asking for your local coffee house to deliver a cup of espresso via the internet. Add to that the fact that the Sage project was not going to provide that on its own, and that Mac OS X support arrived w/o fanfare, it is no surprise there was no hue and cry for that package.
