Hi Sage-devel, I remember once, William Stein said something like "More and more Sage Days are organized every year. Soon each day will be a Sage Day!". So, this semester in Montreal at LaCIM, we are going to contribute for 1/7 of a week. Indeed, we are starting *LaCIM Sage Fridays* :
http://wiki.sagemath.org/LaCIMSageFridays Indeed, students, postdocs and more recently professors at LaCIM have been using and developing Sage since 2008. This year many developers are gathered (Franco Saliola, Alexandre Blondin Massé, Sébastien Labbé, Christian Stump, Marco Robado and others to come we hope) and we intend to finish each week by solving bugs, improving code and of course introducing Sage to anyone interested. Quick presentations will possibly be given each week to start the afternoon (ex : sagetex package, using hg, using hg to share personal repositories, using trace, using sage-combinat server, using ReST, using sagetex-beamer-tikz altogether, etc.). The first LaCIM Sage Friday was held last Friday September 17th 2010. I showed sagetex to a master student. I showed how to use and contribute on the sage-combinat server to a post-doc. I also did a demo of the sage/combinat/words library to another post-doc. On his side, Franco Saliola solved a problem that is bugging us in the computer room since many months : we could not use gap for months (see #9938)! Information about activities done each past Fridays and intended for the next Friday will be posted on the wiki page (in a mix of probably more French than English. The ticket numbers are guaranteed to be written in English though.). If you are in Montreal on a Friday this semester, you are welcome to visit us!
