is an Arch Linux user who could not *run* Sage, and it turns out that he
had just upgraded to gcc 4.4.3 but using Sage built with 4.4.2. This
had also happened to me. But I then rebuilt sage-4.3.1 with gcc 4.4.3
without problems.

OK, I had not realised the process was an upgrade. I thought that it was
supposed to be possible to mix binaries from gcc's where only the last digit had
changed, but I was obviously mistaken.
