I am confused. Can you point to the threads? The one that I remember: http://groups.google.com/group/sage-support/browse_thread/thread/aba48495d9c09e03 is an Arch Linux user who could not *run* Sage, and it turns out that he had just upgraded to gcc 4.4.3 but using Sage built with 4.4.2. This had also happened to me. But I then rebuilt sage-4.3.1 with gcc 4.4.3 without problems.
