When you say you've been running happily on Gentoo, do you mean that
you have been happily building Sage from source on Gentoo?   And if
so, 32 or 64-bit?

32 and 64-bit virtualbox virtual machines have to be setup and
configured to build Sage and added to our build farm.  Then people
have to fix bugs in the build system as they arise.   I personally
have tried to install Gentoo a maybe 4 times into virtual machines
while setting up a bunch of Linux installs -- the complexity of
installing Gentoo is about a million times higher than installing any
other mainstream Linux distribution, so I ran out of patience.    So
somebody else has to do it, and so far nobody has.
