After running sage -testall, I got ~60 failures which sounds like a lot. Not all are in maxima.py. However, many seem to be changes in what maxima returns. There maybe some more serious issues included as was already alluded to. +1 I agree that it worthwhile doing but it would be best to have the help of people that know maxima well enough to know what are simple output changes and what are more serious matters.
