What surprised me the most was the claim that the canvas element is
supported by all the major rendering engines, i.e. Gecko, WebKit,
Opera and IE, so this might be a viable alternative. Fernando Perez
also forwarded the link to the Matplotlib list, so maybe MPL will be
able to render via the HTML canvas element soon. And some of the 3D
parametric plots by Gnuplot are pretty impressive.
