Ok, in Sage we use the rather ancient scons-0.97.0d20071212 at the
moment, but I plan to bump to the current release in 3.3.alpha6 since
it will be little work to do so.

Yes, but many people set CC and CXX to use the Sun Forte compiler, so
shooting SCons in the back by patching it seems so much more
convenient to me :)
I am sure recent Sun Forte compiler releases ought to compile
PolyBoRi, but I had not had the time to try it.
