I actually run the test suite (which takes about an hour and a half of
CPU time and is about 45,000 input statements) after every patch I
merge.

I would not say it is obvious how to convert them. There is
infrastructure to extract the tests with their expected results from
the docstrings, but I am no expert on this and somebody else should
fill you in on technical details.

On potential possibility would be to improve the Axiom<->Sage
interface and log all the inputs send from Sage. I believe Bill Page
is the author of that code, so maybe he can fill you in how much
functionality of Sage does have the ability to use Axion for its
computation.
