Marc, Your response seems to suggest that Dima is claiming that your
distribution of Sage is wrong or shouldn't exist. Nothing could be
further from the truth.

Really? What does the following mean to you?

"I don't want to go into merits of the macOS app, but it's a highly
non-standard by modern Python standards
thing which does not bring to users full functionality of Sage, and ties
them up to a shifty expensive platform."

Yes it is hard to avoid the implication in *some* (not all) messages that
true "end users" are not real users - and that most of the world runs on
some "distro". That this implication is not wholly the case is refuted by
the thread on using meson having been motivated by the ability to build
Sage (finally) natively on Windows - which I can only assume means that, if
that project is fully successful, would mean the ability to eventually have
Windows exe files for download, which would be stupendous.

Still, it would be helpful for rhetoric around "only one user" be replaced
by "all Mac users, many of whom do not have the time, expertise, or
patience, or whatever, to build Sage from scratch using something like
homebrew". For better or for worse, Marc and his team have stepped into
the gap to provide this incredibly valuable service.
